Stroke Study Misses the Mark

There has been a few recent articles published in reference to the AMPDS and the system's ability to detect stroke at the emergency control room level. While we have no direct knowledge of the study or what processes it may have followed to validate its' data, we do know that it was done on a version of the system that is no longer in use. Version 11.1, the version used, was released in 2001 and by the very nature of our industry is out of date. There is not a single Ambulance Trust in the UK operating on this version, further making the study and its' publication moot.

Other studies have actually showed results to the contrary and recent data from within the UK itself shows that the system currently used by the Ambulance Trusts is significantly better than what these articles quote. Below is the IAED's press release in reference to these articles.
